Studies

Next to its various meeting formats, the European Security Round Table conducts research and organises studies on European security and defence topics.

The ESRT cooperates with leading think tanks and research organisations. Study groups composed of high-level international experts examine upcoming challenges in the field of European security and defence. These groups work independently of the European Security Round Table. More often than not, their members attend and take inspiration from ESRT sessions.

The ESRT and the Venusberg Group of the Bertelsmann-Stiftung have held a successful brainstorming session with key MEPs on the upcoming agenda for the European Parliament in the area of security and defence in early March. The publication of the results of this session and follow-on research, a Venusberg Handbook on European security and defence, is foreseen for September. The handbook will be presented in the context of a conference.
