Panel Speaker

In the context of the allegations against NSA surveillance and few days after the revelations about the spying programmes targeting European leaders, this informal meeting between EU and US officials was the first bilateral discussion held by the European Cyber Security Round Table (eSRT) in the framework of its International Cyber Security Dialogue series.

This EU-US dialogue involved Michael Daniel, Special Assistant to the President of the United States and Cyber Security Coordinator of the White House, Christopher Painter, Coordinator for Cyber Issues in the US State Department, Erik Windmar, Member of Cecilia Malmstöm Cabinet, Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, and Cornelia Kutterer, Director of Regulatory Policy for Microsoft EMEA. The speakers exchanged their views on the content of the US Executive Order on Improving Critical Infrastructure Cyber Security, the priorities of the US Government in this area, and the need to address cyber security issues, Internet policy challenges and threats in the framework of Transatlantic cooperation.
