IT Security Landscape in Europe in the Context of the NIS Directive

On the 9th of July 2013, the European Security Round Table has successfully launched its cyber security platform, the eSRT, with a round table on “The IT security landscape in the context of the NIS directive”. 

Following up on our Global Cyber Security Conference where Vice-President of the European Commission Neelie Kroes presented the European Cyber Security Strategy, this round table discussed the Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive which proposal had been published with the Strategy. 

Andreas Schwab MEP, Rapporteur on the NIS Directive, Prof. Udo Helmbrecht, Executive Director of ENISA, Giuseppe Abbamonte, Head of unit at DG Connect, Prof. Jos Dumortier, Head of the B-CCENTRE, and Cornelia Kutterer, Director of Regulatory Policy for Microsoft, discussed the requirements for operators of critical infrastructures as well as for public administrations to adopt appropriate steps to manage security risks and report serious incidents to the respective national authorities.

This event was organized in cooperation with the Representation of the State of Hessen to the EU, ENISA and Microsoft and consolidated the foundations of the eSRT.
