ICT R&D in Europe: Key for Developing a High Level of Cyber Security?

13.11.2013

ICT R&D

The discussion on ICT Research & Development in Europe was part of a series of round tables aiming to address the question of European autonomy through R&D and technological independance.

In this event, Michael Gahler MEP, Thibaut Kleiner, Member of Neelie Kroes Cabinet, Volkmar Lotz, Head of Security and Trust Research at SAP and Carsten Rudolph, Head of Research Department at Fraunhofer SIT, gave an insight on the potential of EU originated research programmes on ICT security and questioned if these should receive a larger role within Horizon 2020.

The luncheon has given academic experts and industry representatives the opportunity to meet with European officials involved in cyber security issues and to prolong the debate on the necessity and potential benefits of an establishment of research projects on ICT security in Europe.
